“Mommying” ..

Hi Everyone! I totally made up “Mommying,” but you get this jist of it.

So I don’t usually do this, but I want to be as raw and really with you as I can be. My 6 year old moves slower than a SLOTH IN PEANUT BUTTER every school morning, but if you tell him it’s karate he is dressed and buckled in his sit before I even finish, “It’s time…”

Please tell me I’m not the only one that has a kid like this?

Plus, when he gets going Grayson then decides to throw a full on tantrum.

Also, Joe’s at work at 5:20 every morning. So it’s only me to fight these battles.

Woo, this Mama is exhausted. Life with boys!

May we Dash

Hi Everyone! So today was a big day for me. I started the Dash Diet. Dash is short for- Dietary Approaches Stop Hypertension. It’s a great way for me to be more aware consciously for my heart. As you know, pre-eclampsia can have a huge impact on my body later on in life so I want to take good steps forward to help prevent any heart or blood pressure issue that might arise. It has two phases to it, and everything is included. Phase one consist of vegetables, lean meats (poultry and fist too), fats, dairy, and nuts, seeds and legumes. This phase will last for 2 weeks and it’s to boost your metabolism and stabilize your blood sugar. Phase 2 is all the same with the addition of grains and fruits. You have a choice of 1,600, 2,000, or 2,600 calories. I am doing the 1,600 calories. I do not feel starved or hangry. Which is a good start. Some diets that I have been up I’ve gone literally, psycho.

Google search – I will give credit to where it is due if someone comes in contact with me.

Of course, silly me, trying to learn everything as I go today. I forgot to take pictures for the blog. Mommy brain to the fullest today. I will do better this weekend. I am still drinking coffee. I went cold turkey Jan 1st, and it backed fire on me. I drink half a cup of what I usually drink with Sugar Free International Delight Creamer French Vanilla. It seems to keep my migraine at bay. In February, I’m aiming to cut what I drink now in half, and so forth.

Last night, I went food shopping for everything I need for the next two weeks. We’re allowed an unlimited amount of non-starchy vegetables. So I made sure to stock up on those. A non-starchy vegetable is a vegetable that has less carbs and calories to their starchy counterparts.

Examples of non-starchy vegetables..

I don’t know who I can give credit too, but I did find this on a google search. If I come in contact with the person I will gladly give credit where it’s due.

For breakfast, I had two eggs with a cup and a half of mushrooms, peppers, and onions. I forgot to purchase Canadian bacon yesterday so I had that only. It filled me up that I don’t think I would be able to have eaten any more at that time anyway.

I, learned, to eat every 2-3 hours. I decided to make this into 3 meals and 3 snacks.

My first snack was a cup full of carrots and an ounce of crab meat. It was yummy, and put my stomach growls back to bed.

Honestly, I forgot to eat lunch today. I wasn’t hungry, but I ate an ounce of crab meat as another quick snack after I got Chase from school.

Dinner time was around six tonight. I ate two ounces of chicken, squash, brussels sprouts, and a small side salad with 2 Tbsp of Italian Dressing.

In a little bit I’ll have a serving of low-fat yogurt and call it a day.

So overall, it is very easy to follow. I did not reach my water goal for the day, BUT tomorrow is a new day and now that I have a grasp on everything. It should run smoothly. I’ll make sure to keep everyone in the loop.

Anyone on a diet? What kind of diet are you on? Are you hangry (hungry and angry) at all? Let me know!

Recap:: Back to School and Much More!

To kick off Back-to-School week we decided to make a family friendly competition of mini golf. It was so much fun! I baby wore Grayson and still won! Whoop Whoop. He slept the whole time! LOL. I could have done better, but, hey, a 57 is not bad at all! I miss golfing. Maybe, I’ll start that up again. Loser had to pump gas.

Tuesday was Chase’s first day back to school. I can’t believe I have a 1st grader! Where did the time go?! When I was in first grade I got head trauma the week after Easter. I missed 6 weeks of school. We had the top notch Neurologist and Pediatric Neurologist too. (Yes, I had two and one of them worked for NY Giants. So I knew I was in good hands.) A group of us were playing on my metal hammock in the backyard, and too much weight snapped the pipe. Hit my brother and sister in the arms and legs, and the S hook went rite through my head. *I am very blessed to be still sitting here today.* So we’re hoping to no Emergency Room/Hospital visits.  Knock on wood!

21369188_10213963925037166_5321799965179927420_n.jpgHe has some of his friends from his Pre-K and Kindergarten class with him this year. So being excited was an overstatement. When Chase saw his friends at school the smile on his face kept growing bigger and bigger each friend he saw. He told me to take his picture so that I can look at it and won’t miss him that much! It was adorable. I was happy that he went back to school, because he loves it and Mama, honestly, needed a break from two kids 24/7. I was also sad to see him grow even more!

On the other hand, I literally had my hands full with Grayson. He was looking for Chase all day. Refused to nap, and it was a disaster. I was a full-blown jungle gym most days. This week it’s starting to ease a little, but it’s an adjustment. Still won’t nap longer than 40 minutes, but it’s a work in progress. His best friend is not around all day, everyday, in his face, and, of course, he misses that. He loves him so much! They both do. We got very lucky!

First week went off without a hitch. Mommy even remember to use the Immune Booster Blend and Courage Blend.  Also, the Flinestone vitamin gummies. God forbid I forget those!

After school activity is Karate. Chase is getting promoted to Dragon Green Belt. That is what the red stripe on his belt represents. He has graduation this Saturday. They do a small evaluation before receiving the new belt. He’s so proud of himself, and so are we. His brother likes to use that time as nap-time. That face!

Grayson is full blown teething. We’re using Clove with a carrier oil on the gums and it seems to help. I’m also using it on my gums. During my pregnancy my gums blew up a little. You put in it on 3-4 times a day for a week or so. I already see a huge difference in gums. The inflammation is going down.

We go through bibs and clothes like it’s nothing. So much drool! I don’t remember Chase drooling this much!

Speaking of teeth- Chase has his two bottom teeth loose! Of course, picture day is on the 29th of this month. I called it last month that he’ll probably lose his first tooth the day before pictures. I wasn’t thinking two! He told me this morning that another one might be lose too.  His so excited. All his friends, except two, have lost teeth already. He was getting upset about it. Anyone know the going rate for a tooth these days?! I heard first tooth is like $20 and every tooth after is $5! When I was a kid- first tooth $5 and every tooth after $1. These kids have it made these days! Tooth fairy is going to have to make a visit soon.

Anyone else out there breast-pumping?! I’ve tried the whole attach to the boob. It wasn’t working for us, and became stressful. So we decided breast-pumping is best! Well, for the last month I have a full two ounce drop each pump. I can barely make 24-27 ounces and it’s been frustrating. I had a full-blown breakdown at 1 a.m. a few weeks ago. I made my husband, God Bless him, go out and get formula. We now give him a bottle of just formula and maybe a top off of formula in another bottle. Still mostly breast-milk during the day still. We found this works best for us. As something different might work best for someone else. As long as my son’s belly is full. I don’t care how he gets its. Chase was strictly a formula feed baby after the first 6 weeks. I dried up.

Leave a comment- I want to hear from you! How did your kids first week of school go? Do they have a fun activity after school they love? Teething or did/is the tooth fairy coming to visit? What did the tooth fairy leave behind? Breast-pumping tips? What works for you to make sure your infants tummy is full?
